The Hoop Magic Fundamentals Basketball Program (Clinic) is an 6 week program that introduces your K-1 through 2nd grade child to the game of basketball with an emphasis on basic fundamentals, rules, team play and, most importantly, fun!!  The program will take place at the Hoop Magic Sports Academy in Chantilly on Saturday and/or Sunday mornings, beginning January 19, 2008.  Participants will enjoy 4, one hour clinic sessions, all participants will receive a Hoop Magic T-shirt, Basketball, and a personal written evaluation that will give them an assessment of their skill level at the end of the program along with practice items to work on in the spring and summer.  

 

For many years, the local programs have waited until the 3rd grade before introducing our children to basketball. Those early years are usually very frustrating for inexperienced players and their parents as well as those who have been coached at home, due to the huge disparity in the skill levels. The basis for good habits, understanding of the game and an introduction to the discipline of team play is now available to 1st and 2nd graders with The Hoop Magic Fundamentals Basketball Program (Clinic). We also believe that early exposure to good sportsmanship, respect and contributing to the success of a team is essential in our children's development, on and off the court.

 

 

The fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding and defense will be taught and practiced. The program also teaches our youngsters the rules of the game, in an enjoyable way. Teamwork is also emphasized, as the players will be grouped into teams and will scrimmage one another in the later weeks of the program. The staff of Hoop Magic is actively involved in this concept as we are all vested in developing the talents, both mental and physical, of our areas future stars. In addition, we enlisted the support of local high school and college players to help coach the teams.
